Here's to the First Time!

The first time I looked into buying a toy for myself, I opened an incognito window, typed in “Sex Toys Manila” and found myself overwhelmed. I thought it was going to be a pretty straightforward deal but boooy, was I wrong. Bullet vibes? Dildos? Anal plugs?  Rabbit vibrators? Why were there so many options? How on earth do you know what to get?

Research. Research is the answer to this question, my friends. The internet has it all and many brave souls have reviewed toys for us so we don’t have to suffer through a bad orgasm ever again. They’re out there, just waiting for us to discover them. Now, maybe, just maybe, researching will take too much of your time. Maybe you’d just like to come, now, now, now. So what I have before you, friends, are a few tips on selecting toys to get the ball rolling.

  1. Before you play, you gotta know your bod. Yay!

Learn what pleasures you without the aid of toys. Use your hands. Have a partner explore with you. What discover you like is a good guide on what toy to get. When I first bought a toy, I knew that I liked clit stimulation but wasn’t so sure how I felt about penetration. I still went ahead and bought a rabbit vibrator that I did zero research on and I was so disappointed, guys. The rabbit ear vibrations were so weak they couldn’t be used alone and the insertable bit made me uncomfortable even paired with the “ears.” So listen to your body when you play. The heart wants, what the heart wants. So do your pleasure parts.

  1. Trust the experts.

I expanded my horizons in researching and went to the experts. Our resources might be limited in Manila but the internet has a whole lot of people dedicated to getting off, so I decided it was time to trust my orgasms to those who know best. Manufacturers will tell you that their toy is the best, but I’ve learned that sex toy reviews are the way to go.

  1. Not all toys are created equal.

It’s important to consider, I learned, if the toy is body safe. While a cheap toy doesn’t always mean bad quality, it’s best to get a toy from a reputable manufacturer. Read the reviews. And if you care about that kind of thing (I do), make sure these manufacturers aren’t made of sexist dicks either.

  1. When all else fails: Simplicity & Versatility are your best friends.

If you’re still in doubt over which toy best suits you or if you want to get something worth your money, go for either simplicity or versatility. My mistake with my first toy was getting something that could only do one thing when I wasn’t yet sure if that was a thing I really liked. If you just want to test the waters, something simple like a bullet vibe is affordable and is almost always guaranteed to give you a good time.

It’s not a bad thing to explore, but if you’re like me and want to get your money’s worth and more than just one sensation, versatility in a toy is your friend. Get toy that can work externally and internally (protip: if you’re going for something that can work on your behind too, make sure it’s got a flared base!!). So, dear reader, if you do decide to get yourself some fun-loving assistance, get something that’ll make you go oh, oh oh, in more ways than one.

These are just some of the many approaches on getting a toy, whether you’re buying for the first time or coming back for more. You can choose to go for what’s reliable and familiar, or you can take the plunge into something crazy and new and exciting. Whatever it is you choose, there’s gonna be a toy waiting for you!
